The respiratory system is a biological system consisting of specific organs and structures used for gas exchange in animals and plants.
Trachea: a large membranous tube reinforced by rings of cartilage, extending from the larynx to the bronchial tubes and conveying air to and from the lungs; the windpipe.
Pharynx: the membrane-lined cavity behind the nose and mouth, connecting them to the esophagus.
Larynx: the hollow muscular organ forming an air passage to the lungs and holding the vocal cords in humans and other mammals; the voice box
Bronchi: any of the major air passages of the lungs that diverge from the windpipe
Alvioli: any of the many tiny air sacs of the lungs which allow for rapid gaseous exchange
Diaphragm: a dome-shaped, muscular partition separating the thorax from the abdomen
Muscular System: performs simple to complex tasks with voluntary and involuntary movement daily. There are three main types of muscles smooth, skeletal, and cardiac.
Skeletal Muscle: a muscle that is connected to the skeleton to form part of the mechanical system that moves the limbs and other parts of the body.
Smooth Muscle: muscle tissue in which the contractile fibrils are not highly ordered, occurring in the gut and other internal organs and not under voluntary control.
Cardiac Muscles: pump blood thru the body, contract to pump blood and relax to release it
Reflection
There were a couple of main positives that occurred during this project. The first positive is that we all agreed on the original ideas for the building process. We thought for a while about we wanted to do and decided very quickly on our ideas. I feel that that is why our project ended up being successful. We thought long and hard about what we should do and it turned out well. Another positive is the research process went smoothly. We researched our system thouroghly in a short amount of time. I also feel that by researching well, our presentation went well..
Although this project went well for my group, there is still room for improvement. One negative from our project was our time management. We got a good start but started to fall off in the end. This made us have to rush to finish. Another negative in this project was that we had couple last minute additions to our project. Luckily, it worked out for us in the end. This was the best project this year in my opinion and my group and I did very well.
